Setup guide.

Install Detailed Logs on your DayZ server, check it is writing session logs, and optionally stream events as they happen.

Install Detailed Logs

5 STEPS
  1. GET THE MOD

    Subscribe on Steam Workshop.

    Subscribe to Detailed Logs, then download it with the rest of your server’s mods.

    Open Steam Workshop
  2. INSTALL IT

    Copy it to your server.

    Put the mod folder in your DayZ server’s root directory, next to DayZServer_x64.exe, and name it @detailedLogs.

    It runs on the server only, so players don’t need to download anything.

  3. ENABLE IT

    Launch as a server mod.

    Load it with -serverMod rather than -mod. Separate multiple server mods with semicolons.

    DayZServer_x64.exe -config=serverDZ.cfg -profiles=profiles "-serverMod=@detailedLogs"

    The -profiles folder is your $profile, where the mod keeps its settings and logs.

  4. FIRST LAUNCH

    Review the settings.

    On first start, the mod creates $profile:DetailedLogs/config.json with default settings. Each option is 1 (on) or 0 (off).

    To start from a preset, copy config.default-basic.json or config.default-all.json from the mod folder. AI, market, and other Expansion options only apply when DayZ Expansion is loaded. Restart the server after changing settings.

  5. PLAY A SESSION

    Find your session logs.

    Every server start writes a new dl_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.ljson file in $profile:DetailedLogs/.

    Logging pauses while no players are online, so join the server to record events, or set "detailedLogsNoPause": 1.

Where files live

$profile is the folder set by -profiles.

Real-time streaming

OPTIONAL
  1. Open or create your server in Instances. Edit its Live streaming settings, turn on Accept POST requests, and save. DZLoggy generates the API key for you. Add your server’s public IP address if you want to restrict access.
  2. Open API setup on the instance and copy its ApiConfig.json configuration to $profile:DetailedLogs/ApiConfig.json. It contains the exact endpoint for that instance. New keys are shown once, so save the configuration before leaving the page.
  3. The configuration has this format. Replace the placeholders with the values from your instance’s API setup.
    {
        "url": "https://dzloggy.com/api/v1/instances/YOUR_INSTANCE_ID/logs",
        "api_key": "YOUR_API_KEY"
    }
  4. Turn on POST streaming in config.json: "detailedLogsApiPost": 1. Enable the detailedLogsApiPost* options for the events you want to stream, then restart the DayZ server.
  5. Join the server and check the instance’s recent logs for a live session. Each server restart starts a new session.

Detailed Logs sends each JSON event with your API key and session ID automatically. You can continue writing session files while streaming.
